Micron Technology on Thursday said it inked a 15-year virtual
power-purchase agreement for its U.S. operations with
renewable-energy company Terra-Gen, as the memory-chip maker works
to reduce its carbon footprint.
The Boise, Idaho, company said it will receive about 178
megawatts of wind electricity capacity and associated
renewable-energy certificates annually under the contract with
Terra-Gen, which operates more than 2.2 gigawatt-hours of wind,
solar and energy storage across the U.S.
Micron, which has pledged to spend about $1 billion by 2028 to
support its environmental targets, said the deal bolsters its plan
to source 100% renewable energy across its U.S. operations by the
end of 2025 and its mission to achieve net zero greenhouse-gas
emissions by 2050.
