Intel Corp. (INTC) said it is expanding its paid leave benefits.

"Beginning Jan. 1, 2020, Intel is expanding U.S. paid leave benefits to better support employees during life's critical moments," the semiconductor company said in a release Tuesday morning.

The company will offer paid leave for up to eight weeks to care for a seriously ill family member.

Paid bonding leave for new parents will be expanded from eight to 12 weeks. New parents may work a part-time schedule with full-time pay for up to four weeks. Parents who opt in also will receive a gift.

Intel said it will also provide breast milk shipping at no cost.

The company is expanding paid time off for bereavement to up to two weeks.

Short-term disability coverage, which includes pregnancy, approximates regular pay for up to 52 weeks and will be provided at no cost, Intel said.
