Ebay Inc. said it is partnering with the Gemological Institute of America to expand authenticity guarantee to the fine jewelry category.

The authentication program currently includes sneakers, watches, handbags and trading cards.

"Jewelry has always been a popular category on the marketplace, and its growth shows how consumer demand is only increasing," said Ebay's general manager of luxury Tirath Kamdar.
