Miami is hot in Europe. The second series in the world's number one
franchise is making a big impact on the primetime schedules of
European broadcasters, including Germany, France, the U.K. and
Spain. With CSI: Miami, Season Four, off to a strong start on CBS
in the U.S. - winning the night for each episode that has aired to
date - earlier seasons are sizzling across the pond. "CSI: Miami
has been consistently gaining momentum internationally, and is now
available virtually everywhere in the world," says Ted Riley,
Executive Managing Director, International Television Distribution.
"The fact that CSI: Miami is pulling in such stellar ratings on
primetime European schedules, against premium domestic content - is
a huge testament to this magnetic series and the immense popularity
of the CSI franchise." Following its move from VOX to RTL this
spring, CSI: Miami has catapulted to the top of ratings chart,
becoming the top-rated U.S. show in Germany. Since the launch of
Season Three, CSI: Miami has consistently pulled in over 26%
audience share in the coveted 14-49 demographic, peaking at over 6
million viewers on September 20, 2005. "CSI: Miami is first-rate
crime entertainment, says Anke Schaferkordt, RTL CEO. "RTL viewers
simply love the series. CSI: Miami is not only a big success on RTL
Television, it is also the most successful U.S. series on German
television." On TF1 in France, CSI: Miami beat the competition by
scoring its primetime ratings best of 9.3 million viewers (38.2%
market share) followed by 7.5 million viewers (39.5% market share)
in two back-to-back episodes on September 21 at 8:55 p.m.
Back-to-back episodes from Season Three - airing on Wednesday,
October 5 in the primetime slot - scored 8.7 million viewers (with
47% market share in the 15-34 demographic) followed by 7 million
viewers (with 50% market share in the 15-34 demographic.) "We are
thrilled that CSI: Miami - now airing in primetime - has broken the
French Top 50, ranking in 29th place; very few American series have
ever achieved such a ranking," says Laurent Storch, Head of
Acquisitions for TF1. "This huge achievement reinforces the immense
popularity of the series amongst French television audiences." On
Five in the U.K., CSI: Miami - Season Three is the third
highest-rated U.S. drama on U.K. television (directly behind CSI:
Crime Scene Investigation), currently averaging 3.1 million viewers
and 13.5% audience share, with the audience share increasing season
over season, most notably in the key 16-34 demographic. "CSI: Miami
continues to be one of the top-rating American dramas on British
TV," says Jay Kandola, Director of Acquisitions, Five. "We are
delighted that the series helps to continue our reputation as the
home of America's finest." In Spain, on Telecinco, Season Three of
CSI: Miami has been averaging over 4.1 million viewers and 25%
audience share since its launch on September 5 at 10 p.m. It is the
second-highest rated U.S. drama in Spain (behind CSI: Crime Scene
Investigation) during 2005. "Since we launched CSI: Crime Scene
Investigation in summer 2002, the CSI Franchise has performed
extraordinarily well on Telecinco, winning most of the nights where
it competed against both theatrical blockbusters and domestic
fiction or entertainment," says Alberto Carullo, Broadcasting
Division Director, Telecinco. "CSI: Miami is a rock-solid, strong
loyalty building primetime series for Telecinco." About The CSI
