Micro Focus International PLC said Wednesday that it has signed a commercial agreement with Amazon.com Inc.'s cloud arm, Amazon Web Services.

Under the agreement, AWS and Micro Focus will work together to deploy Micro Focus's technology for customers moving applications and workloads to a cloud-based production environment, the U.K. software group said.

Micro Focus said it has issued warrants to Amazon NV Investment Holdings LLC to subscribe for up to 15.9 million shares in Micro Focus at 446.60 pence each as part of the agreement. The vesting of the warrants depends on the level of software revenue generated by AWS for Micro Focus under the agreement and full vesting requires the deal to deliver a material benefit to both companies' revenues, the U.K. company said.

Micro Focus shares closed at 438.60 pence on Tuesday.
