Google said it is acquiring enterprise file-storage provider Elastifile, as the Alphabet Inc. (GOOG) unit looks to expand its suite of cloud-computing services.

The companies didn't disclose the deal value.

"The combination of Elastifile and Google Cloud will support bringing traditional workloads into GCP [Google Cloud Platform] faster and simplify the management and scaling of data and compute intensive workloads," Google Cloud Chief Executive Thomas Kurian said in a statement.

Elastifile in December launched the Elastifile Cloud File Service on the Google Cloud Platform

The acquisition is part of Google's push into the cloud market, as it competes with firms like Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) and Microsoft Corp. (MSFT).

Cloud computing is a priority of Google CEO Sundar Pichai, who earlier this year replaced Google Cloud's chief, Diane Greene, with Mr. Kurian, a former Oracle Corp. executive.

Google in June unveiled a deal to acquire Looker, a business-intelligence software and big-data analytics platform, for $2.6 billion in cash.

Google said Tuesday it is expecting to complete the deal for Elastifile later this year.
