Alphabet Inc.'s (GOOG, GOOGL) YouTube said the changes it
previously detailed about children's content are now beginning to
roll out globally.
YouTube has said it would require content creators to designate
whether or not their videos are made for children, and said it
would limit data collection and disable features including comments
on content for children.
A YouTube video summarized the changes, including restrictions
on "monetization features," and said the main YouTube service is
"not and has never been for people under 13." YouTube said in a
blog post that "tens of millions of people" use its YouTube Kids
service every week, and "recently we saw an all-time high of weekly
viewers since the app's launch."
