Meeting to include public/private partnerships
focused on mentoring, apprenticeship and the opportunities created
by the Gigabit Economy
ADTRAN®, Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN), a leading provider of
next-generation open networking and subscriber experience
solutions, today announced it is hosting U.S. Secretary of Labor
Alexander Acosta for a tour of its manufacturing facility and an
interactive discussion on how the public and private sectors can
strategically partner to train highly-skilled employees capable of
thriving in today’s globally-connected, digital marketplace.
“As one of America’s leading innovative tech companies
headquartered in the second largest research park in the nation, we
believe that our people are what make us successful as a company
and community,” ADTRAN Chief Financial Officer Mike Foliano said.
“We offer many education and training benefits not only because we
are committed to growing a highly-skilled workforce, but because we
believe that offering a chance to grow through education is the
right thing to do for our employees.”
The discussion will focus on the administration’s new
apprenticeship program announced Tuesday, ADTRAN’s long-standing
training and internship programs, and the role public and private
partnerships can play in addressing the rapidly-widening skills
gap.
As ADTRAN continues to expand its presence internationally,
addressing this issue is fundamental to its purpose, mission and
goals. According to a recent report from the World Economic Forum,
companies are facing a significant shift on the frontier between
humans and machines when it comes to existing work tasks between
2018 and 2022. ADTRAN’s programs are designed to help it manage
this shift so that the company and current and future employees can
excel and thrive in this new paradigm.
ADTRAN’s college and high school co-op and internship programs
have provided training opportunities for thousands of students for
more than 30 years. ADTRAN currently offers several programs for
students studying science, technology, engineering and math, in
addition to robust employee tuition reimbursement benefits.
