Delta Air Lines Inc. has placed an order for 30 additional
A321neo aircraft from European plane maker Airbus SE to be
primarily deployed across its domestic network, as demand for air
travel continues to recover.
Airbus said Tuesday that the new order is in addition to Delta's
existing orders for 125 aircraft of the type, bringing outstanding
orders from the airline to 155 A321neos.
"As the industry looks to emerge from the pandemic, Delta is
showing responsible leadership and casting a strong vote of
confidence now in the A321neo," said Christian Scherer, chief
commercial officer and head of Airbus International.
The new aircraft, of which Delta is due to receive the first
early next year, will complement the airline's current A321 fleet
of more than 120 aircraft.
Many of the A321neos will be delivered from the Airbus U.S.
Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, Alabama.
