Airbus SE said Thursday that it received a contract from satellite maker Thales Alenia Space to build and deliver a radar instrument.

The European plane maker said its Airbus Defence and Space unit, based in Friedrichshafen, Germany, will lead a consortium of companies to work on the project.

The contract is worth around 190 million euros ($229.5 million), Airbus said, and the radar instrument will be used for the new Copernicus ROSE-L mission.

Thales Alenia Space is a joint venture between French aerospace-and-defense company Thales SA and Italian aerospace and defense company Leonardo SpA.
