Air Liquide SE reported a modest lift in first-quarter revenue and expects net profit to come in close to 2019's level despite the coronavirus pandemic, the company said Friday.

The French industrial-gas supplier said comparable revenue rose 0.6% to 5.37 billion euros ($5.80 billion) in 1Q.

Air Liquide said it had generated EUR91 million in efficiencies during the first quarter as the pandemic forced the shut down of its plants globally. The company aims to surpass EUR400 million in efficiencies in 2020.

The company said it is confident net profit will be close to the 2019 level and that it can increase the operating margin further.

Cash flow in the first quarter was at 22% of sales, Air Liquide said.
