Eni SpA said Monday that its chemical subsidiary Versalis SpA has signed an agreement with AlphaBio Control Ltd. to develop bio-based herbicides and biocides for the disinfection of surfaces.

The two product lines will be launched in Italy early next year, according to the Italian oil-and-gas major. The companies are currently researching new products to eventually expand their portfolio.

AlphaBio Control is a research-and-development company specialized in the production of crop-protection solutions.

The financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
