Enel SpA said Thursday that its renewable arm Enel Green Power
and a subsidiary of the Qatar Investment Authority have signed a
joint-venture partnership to develop renewable projects in
Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Rome-based energy company said the deal includes the
acquisition by the Qatari authority of 50% of Enel Green Power's
stake in four projects under construction in South Africa, as well
as two plants operating in South Africa and Zambia, for a total
capacity of around 800 megawatts.
The overall transaction, whose financial terms weren't
disclosed, is subject to the clearance of regulatory authorities
and relevant institutions.
