Commodity Price Weakness Points to Shallow Fed Path -- Market Talk
October 26 2015 - 6:33PM
Dow Jones News
2203 GMT - The head of interest-rate strategy at National
Australia Bank (NAB.AU, NABZY), Skye Masters, says weakness in
global commodity prices is damping expectations of a near-term rate
hike in the U.S. WTI oil is near its lowest level since August
while the iron ore price is near its lowest level since July. "The
declining oil price is keeping inflationary expectations low and
possibly maintaining a shallow path for the Fed funds rate," she
adds. While oil prices remain low there is little expectation that
inflationary pressures will rise significantly, Masters says.
