Hardide Raise #1.6million
Flintstone is pleased to announce that Hardide Ltd ('the company'), the company
that produces a unique ultra hard, abrasion and chemically resistant Tungsten
Carbide coating for use with steel and other alloys, has raised a further #1.6
million in investment. Flintstone, a major shareholder in Hardide, supported the
fund raising and following the 1st closing own 49% of the company.
The further funding will be used to expand the company enabling it to satisfy
the current growing demand for the Hardide technology. As an integral part of
this expansion the company will shortly move to new 8500 sq ft premises in
Bicester where two new CVD (Chemical Vapour Disposition) furnaces will be
installed. The first of the two new furnaces is due to be installed shortly.
The Hardide coating process was conceived in Russia and has been subject to a
2-year development programme at Begbroke Science Park, Oxfordshire. In summer
2001 a pilot coating facility was commissioned resulting in more than 500
different components being sampled and evaluated confirming an extraordinary
demand for the technology. Amongst Hardide's growing customer base are several
internationally renowned companies operating in the oil and gas sector where the
technology is providing substantial improvement in component life thereby
offering considerable operational cost savings.
David Chestnutt, CEO Flintstone, commented:
"We are very pleased to have raised this extra funding and look forward to
Hardide occupying thier new premises. The two new larger furnaces will enable
them to increase production levels as well as move into new areas of business
involving larger component pieces, thus offering the large cost savings produced
by the coating to a wider range of industries and applications. This is an
exciting time for Hardide and one in which they will be able to increase thier
supply capabilities to meet the growing demand for the Hardide coating"
