FTSE 100 Seen Opening Higher as US Traders Return From Holiday

0638 GMT - The FTSE 100 is seen opening higher following gains in Asian markets and ahead of an expected positive start to trading on Wall Street as U.S. investors return from Monday's Fourth of July holiday. London's blue-chip stocks index is expected to open 24 points higher while the Dow is seen starting up 190 points, according to IG. There is "a lot of optimism among traders that the Biden administration could be rolling back some of the tariffs imposed on China during the Trump era to ease inflation," AvaTrade analyst Naeem Aslam writes. "Higher inflation has created a significant threat to the U.S. economy, and there are higher chances of the U.S. economy falling into a recession." (renae.dyer@wsj.com)
