Chinese Vice Premier Liu He held a video call Tuesday with U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and exchanged views on economic issues, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported.

The two discussed matters including the macroeconomic situation and global industrial and supply chains, said Xinhua, characterizing the talks as "constructive."

The Chinese side also expressed concerns over U.S. tariffs and sanctions imposed on China, as well as the fair treatment of Chinese companies, according to Xinhua.

The Xinhua report also said the two sides believe the global economy is facing severe challenges and it is important to strengthen communication and coordination between the U.S. and China. It is beneficial to China, the U.S. and the world to maintain stable global industrial and supply chains, Xinhua said.

The state news agency also said both sides agreed to continue to maintain dialogue and communication.
