Daily ethanol production in the U.S. has inched lower over the past two weeks, although it fell within the outlook of analysts surveyed by Dow Jones.

In its latest weekly report, the EIA said that U.S. ethanol daily production fell to 1.055 million barrels per day for the week ended June 17, and fell to 1.051 million barrels per day for the week ended June 24. This week's figure falls within the range of production forecast by analysts, who had predicted production to land anywhere from 1.024 million barrels per day to 1.075 million barrels per day.

Data for the week ended June 17 had been scheduled to be released last Thursday but wasn't. The EIA attributed the missed release date to system issues.

Ethanol inventories fell back this week, after turning higher in the previous week. The EIA reports that ethanol stocks totaled 22.7 million barrels for the week ended June 24, down from 23.48 million barrels last week. For this week, analysts had forecast stocks to land between 22.85 million barrels to 23.6 million barrels.

Corn futures on the CBOT are lower in trading today, with the most-active corn contract down 0.3% to $6.57 per bushel.
