--Apple Inc. is asking suppliers to produce about 220 million iPhones this year, about the same as 2021, amid an increasingly challenging industry environment, Bloomberg reports, citing unnamed sources.

--Apple is counting on resilient demand for its smartphones due to a relatively wealthier customer base and hardware sales fueled by the strength of its software and services ecosystem, while a major update is expected for the iPhone 14 model due in the fall, the report said.
