Lowe's Cos. and Petco Health and Wellness Company Inc. plan to open 15 store-in-store retail concepts inside Lowe's locations in three states, the companies said Thursday.

The pair cited a rise in interest in pet ownership during the pandemic as the rationale behind the arrangement. The stores will sell pet food, supplies and services.

The first location is set to open early next month in San Antonio. Other locations in Texas, North Carolina and South Carolina will follow in March.
