FTSE 100 Rises, Led by Entain, Flutter; Market Awaits Fed

0733 GMT - The U.K.'s FTSE 100 index rises 1% to 7052.65 in early trade, with sentiment buoyed after an onshore unit of troubled Chinese property company Evergrande said it would make an interest payment on time this week. Betting-and-gambling group Entain leads gainers, jumping 8.1% after news of an improved takeover bid from DraftKings Inc. Dublin-based peer Flutter Entertainment also rises sharply, up 5.8% after a settlement in its legal dispute with the Commonwealth of Kentucky and an upbeat trading update. Safety equipment company Halma rises 1.2% after reporting good progress in 1H, with performance ahead of forecasts. Miners and financial stocks gain, while pharma stocks are among only a handful of fallers, as investors look ahead to a U.S. Federal Reserve announcement after the close.
