Pernod Ricard SA said Tuesday that it is acquiring spirits retailer the Whisky Exchange, as the French drinks group looks to support its focus on e-commerce and premium products.

The owner of Absolut vodka and Jameson whisky didn't disclose the financial details of the deal. U.K.-based the Whisky Exchange, which sells a catalogue of some 10,000 drinks products online and through physical stores, will retain its current structure, with founders Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh serving as joint managing directors, Pernod said.

The acquisition is subject to standard conditions, the company added.

"E-commerce is a key channel in our long-term strategy," Pernod Chief Executive Alexandre Ricard said.
