Cigna Corp. named Chief Executive David Cordani to the additional role of chairman, effective at the start of 2022.

Mr. Cordani will succeed Isaiah Harris Jr., who is retiring, the Bloomfield, Conn.-based healthcare company said.

Mr. Harris has been Cigna's chairman since 2009, the same year Mr. Cordani became CEO.

The company also added Neesha Hathi as an independent director. Ms. Hathi is chief digital officer at Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. She will join the board on Sept. 1.
