Procter & Gamble Co. on Thursday said Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer Jon R. Moeller will become the company's president and chief executive, effective Nov. 1.

He will succeed David Taylor, who will become the company's executive chairman on that date.

Mr. Moeller has also been appointed to the company's board, P&G said. He will receive an annual base salary of $1.6 million, P&G said.

He joined the company in 1988 and served as chief financial officer, chief operating officer and vice chairman, P&G said.

The company also said Shailesh Jejurikar has been elected chief operating officer, effective October. His annual base salary will be $1 million, the company said.
