Naturgy Energy Group SA on Wednesday said that net profit rose in the first half of the year as results benefited from gradual improvements in economic sentiment and a recovery of commodity prices globally.

The Spanish utility reported a net profit of 484 million euros ($571.5 million) in the period compared with EUR334 million a year earlier.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization came in at EUR1.68 billion from EUR1.74 billion the previous year.

Sales rose 17% on year to EUR9.13 billion, mainly driven by higher demand and energy prices in the period, the company said.

Naturgy added that it will present its new strategic plan for the 2021-25 period later on Wednesday.
