-- Paris-listed car-rental company Europcar Mobility Group SA has rejected a takeover bid from Volkswagen AG, Bloomberg reports citing people with knowledge of the matter.

-- A consortium led by the German carmaker made an offer of about 44 European cents ($0.53) per share valuing Europcar at about EUR2.2 billion, Bloomberg reports, saying Europcar considers the proposal as too low.

-- Europcar and Volkswagen didn't immediately respond to requests for comment.
