Moderna Taps J&J Executive Burton as Medical Chief

Moderna Inc. said it has tapped Paul Burton, a Johnson &
Johnson executive, as its chief medical officer, effective July
6.
Dr. Burton served as chief global medical affairs officer of
Janssen Pharmaceuticals from March 2020 and spent 16 years with
J&J. He would succeed Tal Zaks, who is leaving Moderna after
six years of service.
Dr. Burton's entry in the company comes as the company is
seeking authorization from various governments' health regulators
to authorize the use of its Covid-19 shot in adolescents. Chief
Executive Stephane Bancel said results of testing Moderna's vaccine
in children as young as five years could become available by the
fall, which if positive could lead to regulatory authorization of
its use in the younger age group.
