VMware Inc. on Wednesday said it has tapped company veteran
Rangarajan Raghuram as chief executive to replace Pat Gelsinger,
who left the enterprise-software company to take the top post at
chip giant Intel Corp.
VMware said Mr. Raghuram, who has been chief operating officer
of products and cloud services since October 2016, will become CEO
and join the board on June 1.
Mr. Raghuram, 58 years old, joined the Palo Alto, Calif.,
company in 2003.
Zane Rowe, who stepped in as interim CEO when Mr. Gelsinger left
in February, will return to his role as executive vice president
and chief financial officer, the company said.
VMware also said Sumit Dhawan, currently senior vice president
and chief customer officer, will now serve as president, leading
all go-to-market functions. Mr. Dhawan joined the company in
2013.
