Emerson Electric Co. Wednesday said it named President Mike Train to the newly created post of senior vice president and chief sustainability officer, as the technology and engineering company increases its focus on environmental, social and governance areas.

Emerson said Mr. Train, who has been president since 2018 and a member of the office of the chief executive since 2016, is stepping down as president to take the new role leading the St. Louis company's environmental sustainability strategy.

Mr. Train joined Emerson in 1991.

Emerson said Lal Karsanbhai, who became chief executive last month when David Farr retired, will assume the additional post of president.

Emerson also said Lisa Flavin, who has been chief compliance officer since 2011, has been promoted to senior vice president and will join the office of the chief executive.
