Intercontinental Exchange Inc., the owner of the New York Stock Exchange, said Tuesday that it is bolstering its current sustainability database by adding data on companies' environmental, social and governance-related risks.

The exchange giant said the newly-added data will be provided by RepRisk, an ESG research company, and will cover issues related to human rights, labor practices, corruption and the environment.

"As ESG continues to gain prominence, investors are increasingly looking for granular, timely and accurate data to help uncover ESG-related risks and opportunities in financial markets," said Lynn Martin, president of fixed income and data services at Intercontinental Exchange.

The company said the data provided by RepRisk on around 150,000 companies will be added to its current ESG data service, which includes information from company and publicly available third-party sources on sustainability issues like greenhouse-gas emissions and product quality and safety that could affect companies' operating performance.
