PHOENIX, Aug. 12, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- SenesTech, Inc.
(NASDAQ: SNES), a developer of proprietary technologies for
managing animal pest populations through fertility control, today
announced that San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department has
achieved success by adding ContraPest® to their
Integrated Pest Mangement (IPM) programs in 2019 and has expanded
use in 2020.
"Our department has a mission to preserve the environment and we
must stick to this mission when dealing with rodent control," said
Zachary Goetschi, San Francisco
Recreation and Parks IPM Specialist. "To support our goal of
reducing reliance on traditional rodenticides, we began using
ContraPest in the summer of 2019. Within a few months we did see
positive results in conjunction with other environmentally
conscious IPM methods. We are excited with the outcome and are
happy to have an alternative to rodenticides to add to our
toolbox."
"San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department achieved a 65%
reduction in burrow counts at a site while using ContraPest within
their IPM program," said Kenneth
Siegel, SenesTech's CEO. "Managing rodent populations is a
challenge when dealing with multiple, diverse habitats. San
Francisco Recreation and Parks Department manages more than 220
parks, open spaces and additional recreational areas. We are
pleased that the integrated deployment of non-lethal ContraPest
significantly reduced rat populations through fertility
management without unintended consequences to the environment
or non-target populations. This collaborative effort between
San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department and SenesTech is an
example for other communities faced with significant rat
populations that success can be achieved through
collaboration."
About SenesTech
SenesTech is changing the model for pest management by targeting
one of the root causes of the problem: reproduction.
ContraPest® is an innovative technology with an
approach that targets the reproductive capabilities of both sexes
in rat populations, inducing egg loss in female rats and impairing
sperm development in males. Using a proprietary bait delivery
method, ContraPest® is dispensed in a highly palatable
liquid formulation that promotes sustained consumption by rat
communities. ContraPest® is designed, formulated and
dispensed to be low hazard for handlers and non-target species such
as wildlife, livestock and pets, where the active ingredients break
down rapidly.
We believe ContraPest® will establish a new paradigm
in rodent control, resulting in a decreased reliance on lethal
options. For more information visit the SenesTech website at
