Amazon.com Inc. on Tuesday unveiled plans to open its first fulfillment center in Little Rock, Ark., as well as a second delivery station in the state capital.

The Seattle e-commerce giant said the 825,000-square-foot fulfillment center in the Port of Little Rock will launch next year, creating more than 1,000 new, full-time jobs.

Amazon said it also plans to open a new 85,000-square-foot delivery station later this year that will create hundreds more permanent, full-time and part-time jobs. Such stations serve the so-called "last mile" of Amazon's order delivery process.

Little Rock city officials in April approved the sale of 80 acres at the Port of Little Rock to Amazon.
