FedEx Corp. said it has delivered its first shipments of
personal protective equipment and other supplies for Covid-19
relief efforts in partnership with the federal government.
The company on Wednesday said it was using its FedEx Express
aircraft for the supplies' transport. The shipments will become
part of the U.S. national stockpile once they enter the country,
with the Federal Emergency Management Agency distributing them to
health-care facilities and workers, FedEx said.
With DuPont de Nemours Inc., FedEx said it shipped more than
450,000 Tyvek protective suits to Texas from Vietnam. The company
said it will ship more than 500,000 suits each week in the coming
weeks.
FedEx said it will operate flights this week carrying equipment
for Medline Industries Inc. to Illinois from China, bringing seven
million face masks, additional PPE and anesthesia supplies.
