Northrop Grumman Seeks Australian Partner for RAAF Project Air6500

Aerospace and defense company Northrop Grumman Corp. (NOC) said Monday it was seeking an Australian partner to work with it on the Royal Australian Air Force's Project Air6500.

Under Project Air6500, the RAAF hopes to procure a joint battle management system "for both national defense and expeditionary missions. It will enable improved situational awareness, such as the ability to generate and disseminate a common tactical picture, and will enhance coordination of air battle management, joint weapons employment, including maritime and land strike, and ground-based air and missile defence in operational theaters," the company said.

Chris Deeble, chief executive, Northrop Grumman Australia, said, "We recognize that a program of this size, scope and complexity will demand the most innovative, best-of-breed capabilities and a prime systems integrator partnering with Australian industry who can deliver world class capabilities to the Australian Defense Force."

The company also said it "is engaging with a range of industry members, including small businesses, with the goal of creating an Australian AIR6500 solution that brings the best capability for the best value."
