Kohl’s Wild Theater program at the Milwaukee
County Zoo engages families with interactive conservation
lessons
Kohl’s (NYSE: KSS) today announced a donation of $1.5 million
over three years to the Zoological Society of Milwaukee to continue
the Kohl’s Wild Theater (KWT) program at the Milwaukee County Zoo.
This educational and engaging program provides conservation-themed
theater performances using drama, songs, humor and puppetry to
inspire families to care about nature and animals. Kohl’s Wild
Theater performs for children and their families not only at the
Milwaukee County Zoo but also at schools, festivals, and community
events. Performances both at the Zoo and in the community are free
of charge.
“Kohl’s is happy to be continuing its partnership with the
Zoological Society of Milwaukee. The Kohl’s Wild Theater program is
an exciting and fun way to bring conservation lessons to life for
Wisconsin families every year,” said Jen Johnson, Kohl’s senior
vice president of corporate communications.
The Kohl’s Wild Theater program is twofold:
- Kohl's Wild Theater: Shows are performed at the Zoo from
Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day on the Kohl’s Wild Theater
Stage located just outside the north pedestrian entrance to the
Zoo’s farm. The Society presents daily 15-minute performances
covering multiple topics on the main stage, ranging from invasive
species to climate change to influential female conservationists.
In between main stage performances, actors present eight 30-minute
at-exhibit performance sets per day at multiple locations around
the Zoo.
- Kohl’s Wild Theater Performances in the Community: The
program features a year-round community outreach program, where
Kohl’s Wild Theater performers travel into the community to present
30- to 55-minute performances at various venues, including schools,
libraries, community centers and major special events. The program
is provided, free of charge, within a one-hour radius of the
Milwaukee County Zoo.
“Kohl’s Wild Theater strengthens and enhances our conservation
education mission, providing a powerful avenue to serve and engage
our community,” said Jodi Gibson, Zoological Society of Milwaukee
president and CEO. “We’re thrilled and honored to continue our
partnership with Kohl’s to provide quality conservation education
programming designed to inspire children to care about the animals
and the world we share.”
