Data I/O Upgrades LumenX™ Programming Platform to Double Download Speed and Support Next-Generation Microcontrollers

LumenX version 1.6 Increases Performance
and Expands Device Support Capabilities
Data I/O Corporation (NASDAQ: DAIO), a leading global
provider of advanced data programming and security provisioning
solutions for flash-memory, flash based microcontrollers, secure
elements and authentication ICs, announces version 1.6 of the
LumenX™ programming platform. With this upgrade, LumenX delivers
even better download performance, provides more flexibility and
establishes foundational support for the latest generation of
microcontroller (MCU) architectures.
“LumenX is already the highest performance programming platform
in the industry,” said Anthony Ambrose, President and CEO of Data
I/O Corporation. “However, we are acutely aware that next
generation microcontroller and flash memory architectures will
continue to move towards larger image sizes and faster programming
requirements. The programming demands for new microcontroller
families will require a combination of data programming performance
and secure provisioning that only Data I/O can deliver.” “Increased
edge processing, along with security, is driving the need for more
on-chip storage,” said Jack Ogawa, Senior Director of
Marketing, Cypress IoT Compute and Wireless Business Unit.
“Cypress’ new PSoC 6 MCU with 2 megabytes of Flash and 1 megabyte
of SRAM addresses this need. In conjunction, we chose to work
with Data I/O and their partner Secure Thingz to enable a
high-performance volume programming and provisioning solution that
is fast and equally accessible to all customers.”
In addition to a wide variety of flash memory interfaces such as
Embedded Multi-Media Controller (eMMC) and Universal Flash Storage
(UFS), LumenX version 1.6 also supports popular microcontroller
interfaces such as Serial Wire Debug (SWD) and Universal
Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART). Automotive and industrial
markets are experiencing a rapid increase in image size as more and
more features are integrated into a single microcontroller
device. LumenX version 1.6 doubles the speed at which an
image can be downloaded to the programmer from 25 MB/s to 50 MB/s,
decreasing downtime and improving efficiency. In addition,
new microcontroller families such as the PSoC 6 can now be
provisioned with security credentials. LumenX version 1.6
combines support for data programming and secure provisioning into
one programming platform.
LumenX version 1.6 also supports Dynamic Data Injection, which,
in addition to standard programming, allows a customer to inject a
large amount of unique data into each and every programmed
device. This capability is especially useful in applications
where serialization requirements exceed a simple serial number.
Existing LumenX programming systems can be easily upgraded to
version 1.6 and is available free of charge to Data I/O customers
with current support contracts.
