Merck & Co. (MRK) on Wednesday said it named Jim Scholefield chief information and digital officer, effective Oct. 29.

The Kenilworth, N.J., drug maker said Mr. Scholefield is joining from Nike Inc. (NKE), where he has served as chief information officer since 2015. Before his stint at Nike, Mr. Scholefield was chief technology officer at Coca-Cola Co. (KO).

Merck said Mr. Scholefield will join the company's executive committee.

Clark Golestani retired earlier this year as Merck's global chief information officer.
