FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J., Oct. 3, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) (NYSE: BDX), a leading global medical technology company, today announced that Tom Polen will add the responsibility of chief operating officer of BD, in addition to his current role as president. Polen continues to report Vincent A. Forlenza, chairman and CEO. 

As president and chief operating officer, Polen will have oversight of BD's three operating segments, its innovation and new product development pipeline, and global operations for the company, including all manufacturing facilities and supply chain operations.

Polen was appointed president of BD in April 2017. The company has not had a chief operating officer role since 2016.
