X1, whose software locates, analyzes and takes action on data for regulatory, eDiscovery and corporate compliance purposes, today announced the appointment of Craig Carpenter as the company’s new CEO.  As part of a planned transition, Mr. Carpenter will succeed Tom McGovern, who returns to his COO duties at Idealab now that the company’s CEO search is complete.

“Craig has a stellar reputation in the industry as someone who has helped Global 1000 corporations and their outside counsel utilize technology to solve many of their biggest problems,” said John Patzakis, Executive Chairman of X1.  “The timing here is perfect, as the challenge of finding, analyzing and acting on relevant information within skyrocketing volumes of unstructured data for regulatory, litigation and corporate compliance purposes has become acute for global corporations and their outside counsel.  We are ecstatic to have such a widely respected leader in charge of X1 and are confident Craig will help accelerate the strong growth X1 is experiencing.”

Mr. Carpenter was most recently CEO of Fronteo (NASDAQ:FTEO), a leading cross-border eDiscovery provider serving clients globally.  Before Fronteo he was SVP of Sales at Kroll Ontrack until its acquisition by The Carlyle Group, prior to which Mr. Carpenter was CMO and COO of AccessData, a leading forensics and cybersecurity technology provider.  Prior to AccessData, Mr. Carpenter was VP of Marketing and Business Development and General Counsel at Recommind (NASDAQ:OTEX), before which Mr. Carpenter ran global channel and marketing teams at cybersecurity leaders Fortinet (NASDAQ:FTNT).  Mr. Carpenter began his career as a practicing attorney at Ropers, Majeski, Kohn & Bentley in Silicon Valley servicing multinational technology companies.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead a company with such a strong team and as ideally positioned as X1,” stated Craig Carpenter, X1 CEO. “X1 has been known as a fantastic desktop search tool for 15 years, but this same technology also finds, monitors, analyzes, collects and processes ESI for myriad use cases, including regulatory compliance, litigation, internal investigations, GDPR compliance and defensible data migration or deletion to name just a few.  X1 makes what is technically an exceptionally difficult process incredibly simple and easy.  The sky is the limit for X1’s future.”

Relied upon daily by over 600,000 users in 20,000 organizations, X1 technology allows enterprises to search across, monitor, analyze and collect data from thousands of custodians in hours, including laptops and desktops, file shares, cloud applications like Google’s G Suite, social media and the “dark web”, with direct upload into myriad review platforms, including Relativity and RelativityOne.  For more information about X1 solutions visit http://www.x1.com.
