For nearly 100 years, Pitney Bowes has had a diverse culture of
innovation. The company’s core values are that “we do the right
thing the right way.” Currently, 42 percent of the Pitney Bowes
U.S. workforce is women, and women comprise 38 percent of the Board
of Directors. In addition, women-led businesses drive 30 percent of
the company’s revenue.
“Diversity and inclusion continues to be a defining element of
our character and how we do business. To begin with, it’s the right
thing to do. But diversity and inclusion are also critical to our
business success as we work to mirror the markets we serve and
compete for the very best talent we can attract,” said Pitney Bowes
Chief Executive Officer Marc B. Lautenbach. “Our team is stronger –
and our decisions better – when we have people with different
backgrounds, different experiences and different points of view.
This is why the data is very clear that diverse and inclusive teams
are keys to high-performing organizations.”
“Our culture is at the foundation of everything we do at Pitney
Bowes. We invest significantly in diversity and inclusion and our
ability to attract talent is reflective of that,” said Pitney Bowes
Chief Human Resources Officer Johnna Torsone. “Women want what we
all want – equal opportunities, respect at the workplace, and
values that are evident in our work every day. We are honored to be
named to the Forbes Magazine List of America’s Best Employers for
Women 2018.”
Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to
identify the companies doing the most to support their female
workforces with the first-ever ranking of America’s Best Employers
For Women. To determine the list, Statista surveyed 40,000
Americans, including 25,000 women, working for businesses with at
least 1,000 employees.
All the surveys were anonymous, allowing participants to openly
share their opinions. Respondents were first asked to rate their
organizations on criteria such as working conditions, diversity and
how likely they’d be to recommend their employer to others.
Statista then asked female respondents to rate their employers on
factors such as parental leave, discrimination and pay equity.
These respondents were also asked to nominate organizations in
industries outside their own. The final list ranks the 300
employers that both received the most recommendations and boast the
most gender diverse boards and executive ranks.
