Tennessee Virtual Academy (TNVA), an online public school of
Union County Public Schools which has served the Tennessee
community since 2011, will offer high school beginning with the
2018-2019 school year. The online school is now accepting
enrollment applications in grades K-10 for the upcoming school
year.
The addition of 9th and 10th grade comes at the end of a school
year where 164 TNVA students graduated from 8th grade, with many
families expressing a desire to continue their education at the
virtual school. With the addition of the high school grades, TNVA
will provide families statewide with a new choice in public
education, and offer currently enrolled students the opportunity to
continue their schooling in the online setting.
“Enrolling my son at TNVA was the best decision for our family,”
said Kristin Colson, whose son Isaiah will start 8th grade this
fall. “His teachers are committed to his success, and he feels safe
and confident in his classes. Now that he’ll be able to stay with
TNVA through high school, we see an even brighter future
ahead.”
TNVA combines online instruction, rigorous curriculum, and the
support of state-certified teachers to create a personalized
learning experience for each student. Students take a full course
load in the core subjects of English language arts, history, math
and science. Beyond the core courses, TNVA offers electives in art
and music. Throughout the year, the school offers in-person field
trips, community service, social outings and other activities to
foster a sense of school community.
Students choose online school for a variety of reasons,
including advanced learning, a bullying-free environment, and the
ability to balance their education with extracurricular pursuits or
medical needs. With innovative technology and virtual classes led
by experienced and dedicated teachers, TNVA delivers a
personalized, boundary-free education to students across the
state.
“As an online public school, TNVA has proudly provided Tennessee
families with a pathway to academic success, giving them a learning
option that best suits their child’s needs,” says Head of School
Jennifer Havens. “By adding a high school program, we will continue
to support our students with college and career preparation for
years to come.”
TNVA is now accepting enrollment applications for the 2018-2019
academic year in grades K-10. Families are encouraged to attend an
online or in-person information session hosted by the school.
