The Home Depot Canada Foundation Orange Door
Awards help prevent and end youth homelessness in Canada
TORONTO, April 4, 2018 /CNW/ - To help fuel their efforts
to prevent and end youth homelessness, The Home Depot Canada
Foundation awarded $25,000 to seven
Canadian charities through its Orange Door Awards
program.
The Home Depot Canada Foundation engaged youth advisors who were
once homeless themselves to help determine where the $25,000 grants would make the greatest
impact.
"I am proud to be involved in bettering the lives of homeless
youth," said Karrissa Horan-LaRoche,
a youth advisor with the Street Youth Planning Collaborative Youth
Leaders Committee (SYPC YLC) in Hamilton,
ON. "Being able to draw on my personal experience helps make
an impact and give a voice to those who need it. I take pride in
knowing that the work my committee does and plans to accomplish
will have a great impact on bettering the lives of homeless
youth."

change," said Jeff Kinnaird, chair,

The Home Depot Canada. "By acknowledging organizations who involve
the youth they serve in program planning and decision-making, we

homeless in Canada."

Depot Canada Foundation offers to support organizations working
with homeless and at-risk youth across the country.
