Siemens AG (SIE.XE) said Tuesday that it has been selected to supply a compression train for a Statoil ASA (STL.OS) vessel located in the Johan Castberg oil field in the Barents Sea.
Siemens said it will engineer, manufacture and commission the SGT-750 gas turbine-driven compression train for a floating production, storage and offloading vessel operated by Statoil. The company will also supply a waste-heat recovery unit, it said.
This is the first offshore application of this particular type of gas turbine, Siemens said, and delivery is expected to take place in mid-2019, with the first oil planned for 2022.
The contract was booked as part of its frame agreement with Statoil, Siemens said.
