HEALDSBURG, Calif., Dec. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Starting Sunday night October 8th and lasting for several days, wine country wildfires whipped by intense winds devastated several Sonoma County communities and businesses.

Unfortunately, a handful of Truett-Hurst Winery employees, their families and longtime customers lost their homes in the fires, but as of now all of the families have been resettled and are beginning to focus on rebuilding.  Truett-Hurst is fortunate to report that the Dry Creek property and their third party central warehouse and winery were completely unharmed by the fires.  The Company did have a small volume of estate wine in fermentation at a winery near the Nuns fire that experienced a loss of power.  As a result, Truett-Hurst's Winemaker believes that 5-7% of the wine stored at this facility could be lost.

Truett-Hurst, one of Healdsburg's most-visited wineries, announced in October it would expand its planned 10th anniversary celebration into a benefit for wildfire recovery. More than 650 guests attended the October 28th fundraiser, resulting in Truett-Hurst's donation of $16,400 to the North Bay Fire Relief Fund. The victims fund was formed by Senator Mike McGuire, Redwood Credit Union, and The Press Democrat newspaper.

"We wanted to do something to help immediately, so we shifted our event's focus to supporting the community," said Phil Hurst, Chief Executive Officer, President, and co-founder of Truett-Hurst. "The fires were not quite at 100% containment but attendance was strong. We were very touched by how many guests came from out of town to support Sonoma County and listen to locals' stories." He added, "It was the most gratifying Saturday event ever. An unexpected but meaningful way to mark a major Truett-Hurst milestone."
