SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Twitter today
announced it has partnered with The Game Awards to live stream The
Game Awards 2017 for the second consecutive year. Produced and
hosted by media entrepreneur Geoff
Keighley, The Game Awards is an annual awards ceremony that
unites video game industry creators, eSports champions, influencers
and Hollywood names for a night of
awards, exclusive game world premieres and musical
performances.
Twitter will live stream a pre-show for The Game Awards 2017,
beginning at 5:30pm PST on
December 7, followed by the two-hour
awards show. The live coverage will be available globally to
Twitter's logged-in and logged-out audience and can be found at
live.twitter.com/thegameawards and via @thegameawards.
"We are very excited to collaborate with The Game Awards once
again to bring this annual gaming celebration to Twitter," said
Todd Swidler, Global Head of Live
Video Business at Twitter. "The Game Awards coverage will give
passionate gaming fans and awards show enthusiasts around the world
live video and real-time conversation all in one place on
Twitter."
"We're looking forward to expanding our relationship with
Twitter this year for The Game Awards," said Geoff Keighley, creator and executive producer,
The Game Awards. "We're building on the success we had last year
and creating an even richer experience for Twitter users around the
globe."
The live stream will also be accompanied by a Twitter timeline,
featuring related real-time conversation to create a unified
experience for viewers to watch, Tweet and view commentary on
gaming's biggest night. Live Twitter comments on breaking news and
the results of Twitter user polls will be integrated into the
broadcast. Throughout the show, fans can unlock a special emoji by
Tweeting with #TheGameAwards.
Twitter and The Game Awards are also introducing a new way for
fans to vote for who they want to see take home the night's biggest
awards via a Direct Message (DM) experience for the first time.
Leading into the show, fans worldwide may select the nominees who
they want to see win by casting votes all from a user's personal
Direct Messages on Twitter.
The live stream and highlight clips from the event on Twitter
will also include advertising packages with TV-style ad spots and
pre-rolls.
The Game Awards and Twitter initially teamed up to live stream
The Game Awards 2016, which at the time was the first awards show
to be streamed live on the platform.
