BATTLE CREEK, Mich.,
Oct. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --
Did you know that approximately 80 percent of LGBTQ youth
experience harassment at school? This year, Kellogg Company is
again partnering with GLAAD, as an official sponsor of Spirit Day
2017. Spirit Day takes place during National Bullying Prevention
Month and inspires adults and young people to stand together and
send a message of solidarity and acceptance to LGBTQ youth by
wearing purple or "going purple" online on October 19, 2017.
Kellogg and its brands are going purple by changing its social
media handles on Thursday, October
19, and take a collective stand against bullying.
Bullying is a serious issue. To bring further awareness to this
important issue, we asked our Kellogg characters to "speak out"
against bullying in this video.
Spirit Day began in 2010 as a way to show support for LGBTQ
youth and take a stand against bullying. Following a string of
high-profile suicide deaths of gay teens in 2010, GLAAD worked to
involve millions of teachers, workplaces, celebrities, media
outlets and students in going purple on social media or wearing
purple, a color that symbolizes spirit on the rainbow flag. For
