“Streaming is gaining popularity quickly around the world, and
in particular, in Latin America because it allows consumers to
watch TV on their terms. To meet the demand we are launching our
affordable and easy to use streaming players in various countries
in Latin America,” said Chas Smith, general manager of Roku TVs and
players. “The Roku Express+ is one of our most popular streaming
players, and is a great starting point for first time streamers
because it works with virtually any TV. We’re also delivering our
all-new Roku Streaming Stick+ that provides a cutting-edge
streaming experience on both HD and 4K TVs.”
Roku Express+
The Roku Express+ is great for those who are looking to stream
to the TV for the first time, or give the gift of streaming. With a
Roku Express+ consumers can transform any TV into a Smart TV with
options to connect via HDMI® or composite A/V ports
(red/yellow/white jacks). It comes with everything in the box to
get started, including a simple to use remote control and HDMI
cable. This is the second-generation of the Roku Express+ and is
five times more powerful than its predecessor.
Roku Streaming Stick+
Small, powerful and portable for those who are on the move or
want their streaming player hidden behind their TV. Features a
quad-core processor and delivers exceptional wireless performance
with its advanced wireless receiver that is innovatively built into
the power cord. This new model offers up to four times the wireless
range of its predecessor to minimize buffering. It is great for HD,
4K and 4K HDR up to 60 frames per second (fps) streaming. It comes
with a remote control that includes TV power and volume buttons
that can control compatible TV models and the Roku Streaming Stick+
eliminating the need to use two remote controls for these
functions.
Streaming Made Simple
Roku devices are powered by the company’s proprietary operating
system, Roku OS and feature a simple home screen that can be
personalized with icons to popular streaming channels. In Latin
America, consumers can access to 2,500+ paid and free streaming
channels, including 100,000 movies and TV episodes. Consumers can
also download the free Roku mobile app for iOS® and Android™
devices to control their experience. It can act as a remote, stream
media from the mobile device to the TV, and offers powerful
features like private listening via a headphone jack so consumers
don’t disturb others in the home.
Developing Streaming Channels for the Roku Platform
Roku enables content publishers to build channels and monetize
content to millions of customers around the world. The company
offers content publishers two ways to develop streaming channels
for its platform. Publishers can access the software developer kit
(SDK) or use the Direct Publisher tool that requires no code and
simply uses a feed. More information on developing for the Roku
platform can be found at https://developer.roku.com/index. Those
with questions can contact latam@roku.com.
Availability
Roku streaming players will be available in Argentina, Chile,
Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salavador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua,
Panama and Peru in the coming weeks from retailers.
