Schwab brokerage services, financial wellness capabilities, and real-time data exchange enhance participant experience for Certent clients

Schwab Stock Plan Services and Certent today announced a collaboration that enables Certent clients to seamlessly integrate their stock plan administration with Schwab’s brokerage capabilities and robust participant experience. The onboarding process for clients will begin immediately, with the new technology available in early 2018.

Through this relationship, Certent, a leading provider of equity compensation and financial disclosure software‐as‐a‐service (SaaS) solutions, will remain the equity compensation administrator for its plan sponsor clients. Joint clients’ plan participants will gain access to Schwab’s advanced trading tools and brokerage solutions, including: dedicated support from Schwab Stock Plan Services professionals; financial wellness education for employees; a comprehensive digital platform, including a mobile app*; and personal equity award consultations, regardless of award size. In addition, participants will benefit from Schwab’s low $4.95 standard online equity trade commissions** and Schwab’s Satisfaction Guarantee+. Schwab also plans to waive the ongoing maintenance fee for Certent’s plan sponsor clients.

“At Schwab, our number one goal is to help investors achieve better outcomes through a combination of technology, outstanding service and financial education,” said Marc McDonough, vice president of Schwab Stock Plan Services. “Our collaboration with Certent enables us to serve individuals who traditionally did not have access to brokerage services, making investing and financial planning easier and more accessible.”

Certent will seamlessly integrate with Schwab Stock Plan Services’ new cloud-based SaaS platform which allows for a secure means of sending and receiving data in real-time through application programming interfaces (APIs). With Schwab’s new API, data will be updated continuously so participants can view and engage with their equity awards instantaneously. The new platform supports online grant acceptance, online employee stock purchase events, employee enrollment, and performance awards and cash instruments.

“We are excited to take this next evolutionary step with Charles Schwab by enhancing the integration between our systems,” said Jorge Martin, general manager, Equity Management at Certent. “This enhanced technology will enable our plan sponsor clients to leverage Certent Equity Management while their plan participants will benefit from Schwab’s dedication to the success of individual investors.”
