UNDER ARMOUR AND THE EDMONTON OILERS INVITE BANTAM HOCKEY TEAMS TO COMPETE TO "STORM THE CENTRE"

EDMONTON, Oct. 5, 2017 /CNW/ - For the first time in Edmonton, the Under Armour Storm The Centre competition will make dreams come true for two lucky Bantam hockey teams.  Under Armour is giving young players the chance to live life like the pros and play on the same ice as their idols. Starting today, Bantam hockey teams in the Greater Edmonton Area can register and compete to earn the right to compete on the Oilers ice for a day.

To participate in the competition, Bantam teams in the Greater Edmonton Area submit highlight videos and content over the course of seven weeks that showcase why they deserve to compete on the Oilers ice for a day. Two teams will be crowned the winners and will earn their spot at The Armour Cup, a day of training and professional treatment which ends with a regulation game at Rogers Place.

"Edmonton has some of the most enthusiastic hockey fans and talented young players in Canada, so it was only natural to bring Storm The Centre to Edmonton," says Jon Irwin, Senior Director, Commercial Strategy, Under Armour Canada. "After the great hockey season Edmonton had last year, and witnessing the Orange Crush in the crowd each game, we cannot wait to see the passion that budding Oilers bring to this competition."

Registration on Edmontonoilers.com/stormthecentre is now open for the competition. Teams have 7 weeks to upload content to chapters on the website to tell their team's story. Throughout the competition, teams will be asked to submit photo and video content such as players doing trick shots, pre-game rituals and goal celebrations.  The more content that teams put in each chapter, the better chance the team has at winning. The top two teams who tell their team story best will be chosen to go to The Armour Cup, a chance to compete on the Oilers ice for a day. This will be a full day of training and professional treatment capped off with a game at Rogers Place. Rules and Regulations for the competition can be found here.

The Storm The Centre competition is also running in Toronto and Montreal where youth teams have the chance to "Be the Leafs" or "Be the Habs" for a day and play a game at Air Canada Centre in Toronto or the Bell Centre in Montreal.
