LONDON, Sept. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Chemours
Company (Chemours) (NYSE: CC), a global chemistry company with
leading market positions in titanium technologies, fluoroproducts
and chemical solutions, won for their Opteon™ XL40 refrigerant at
the 2017 RAC Cooling Industry Awards. The company received
the Cold Chain Project award for its support of Dawsonrentals
transition of their refrigeration system to Opteon™ XL40 (R-454A),
a new low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant solution by
Chemours. This award is granted to a project that has proven
results for advancing the progress of the cold chain and has helped
the environment in the process.
Dawsonrentals introduced the concept of mobile cold stores in
Europe and now offers more than
2,500 mobile cold rooms, industrial freezers, blast chillers and
tempering units for rent, making Dawsongroup the market leader in
renting cold storage solutions. Their customer, Park Cake
Bakery, a leading supplier of premium private label cakes and
desserts in the UK, has opened a new custom-built temperature
controlled storage facility in September 2017. The new
building is the first of its kind to be cooled with Opteon™ XL40
refrigerant.
Park Cake Bakery Supply Chain Manager George Walsh commented that, "Our new building
is far more economical and convenient in every respect. Using
Opteon™ XL40 with a GWP of 239 compared with the legacy HFC
refrigerant R-404A with a GWP of 3922 also makes a significant
contribution to reducing our environmental impact."
Diego Boeri, vice president
Chemours Fluorochemicals shares, "We are honored to receive these
awards from RAC as they demonstrate Chemours' leadership in
developing low GWP refrigerants. We believe that our Opteon™
portfolio represents a clear long-term sustainable solution for the
refrigerants industry as it offers better performance for our
customers and the environment."
Opteon™ XL40 (R-454A), an A2L HFO based refrigerant, provides a
94% reduction in GWP over R-404A, while delivering excellent
performance in R-404A equipment designs.
The Opteon™ portfolio of refrigerants from Chemours represents a
breakthrough line of low GWP solutions that offer the optimal
balance of properties for performance, safety, cost and
environmental sustainability. They were developed to help meet
increasing global HFC regulations while maintaining or improving
performance compared to incumbent products. Chemours has invested
millions of dollars to bring these new products to market and will
continue to invest in new products and additional capacity as the
need for low GWP solutions grows throughout the world.
